I have always said that the best thing about Louisiana is the fact that it is made up of small towns. Within those small towns are fantastic relics and historic sites that you will not experience anywhere else. What you don't hear very often is how many movies were filmed in our old boot state.

Actually, I had no idea that there were so many movies filmed in Louisiana. Many of us know that New Orleans has made it move debut quite a few times, but it isn't the only city that can take credit. Natchitoches, Vacherie, Shreveport, Bayou Gauche are among many of the filming cities in Louisiana. The best part is that almost all of the movies that are listed on IMDB are highly rated films.

The highest rated movie on this list happens to the The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Many of the other movies on the list you might have heard of before. There are a few that I love myself.

This are the 10 highest rated movies filmed in Louisiana according to IMDB:

1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) - 7.8 stars

2.Interview with a Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) - 7.6 stars

3. Now You See Me (2013) - 7.3 stars

4. Steel Magnolias (1989) - 7.2 stars

5. Expendables 2 (2012) - 6.7 stars

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) - 6.7 stars

7. Focus (2015) - 6.6 stars

8. Self/less (2015) - 6.5 stars

9. Expendables (2010) - 6.5 stars

10. Skeleton Key (2005) - 6.5 stars

I was not aware that many of these movies were filmed right here in Louisiana, but obviously the film makers love our historic towns. We are a state all our own and I love that it has been captured in these fantastic movies.
