18 Wheeler Likely Leaking Jet Fuel Closes Interstate Ten North of Alexandria By Mile Marker 100

There is an 18 wheeler overturned in the median of Interstate 49 north of Alexandria, and State Police says both sides of the Interstate is now closed.

Trooper Scott Moreau tells KPEL's Bernadette Lee that a truck has arrived to offload the jet fuel that is likely leaking from the 18 wheeler.

Northbound and Southbound traffic will have to detour off of Interstate 49, go to Highway 1 at mile marker 99, which is the Boyce Exit, and at mile marker 103, which is Highway 8 for the Southbound side.

Heavy traffic is expected for at least the next four hours.

State Police is encouraging you to avoid the area if at all possible.
