Shreveport-Bossier City will play host to both this year's Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. The Miss USA pageant will be held first on May 21st.

This will be the first time that both pageants have ever been held in the same location back to back. Miss USA will air live on Fox-TV from the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum.

The competition will bring contestants from all 50 states and DC and this will have a big boost to the region.

"This is exactly the family friendly economic development venue that we encourage and entice for the Shreveport-Bossier region," says Shreveport Chief Administrative Officer Bryan Crawford.

"The economic impact is going to be significant for this event. We'll certainly feel it here in Shreveport and Bossier. Our local businesses will all see a direct impact from this event being here.

This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the competition's first appearance in the sister cities of Shreveport-Bossier, having first being held there in 1998.

The 2018 Miss USA competition will air live on Fox on Monday, May 21 at 7pm and it will be hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey.

For the record, since the pageant began in 1952, Louisiana has had three Miss USA titleholders, which are listed below.

1958 - Eurlyne Howell - Bossier City
1961 - Sharon Brown - Minden
1996 - Ali Landry - Breaux Bridge
