Three people were injured on Sunday afternoon when a boat hit a barge and another docked boat on the Mississippi River in Waggaman near New Orleans.

The Live Oak Manor Fire Department responded to a call in the 9600 block of River Road near mile marker 112.

One of the vessels hit was unloading fuel at the time of the crash and the hose went into the water. However, the line was quickly shut off and a boom was laid out to contain the fuel leaked into the water.

Officials in Jefferson Parish released a statement last night that there was no imminent danger to any nearby residents in regards to the water supply.

The U.S. Coast Guard was also called to the scene. Details on the three people's injuries are not known at this time.
