A couple of celebrities got married over the 4th of July weekend. Singer Billy Joel got hitched to a woman half his age while singer-actress Vanessa Williams tied the knot too.

66-year-old Billy Joel tied the knot with 33-year-old Alexis Roderick at his Long Island, New York estate on Saturday evening. It was a "surprise wedding".

The couple "surprised guests at their annual July 4th party by exchanging vows in front of their family and close friends," the singer's spokeswoman said in a statement to People.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a longtime friend of Joel, presided over the nuptials.

Roderick is an accomplished equestrian and former Morgan Stanley executive. The couple have been together since 2009 and are expecting a child later this summer.

As for Vanessa Williams, the 52-year-old said "I do" to her fiance Jim Skrip in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, July 4th.

Williams and Skrip, a former accountant, met while on separate trips in Egypt back in 2013.

This is the third marriage for Williams. She was married to her first husband Ramon Hervey from 1987 to 1997 and the couple share three kids -- daughters Melanie, 28, and Jillian, 26, along with son Devin, 22. She and Rick Fox split in 2005 after six years of marriage, and share daughter Sasha, 15.
