Baton Rouge native Avery Kyle is a 9-year-old girl competing on MasterChef Junior.

Food is kind of our thing here in Louisiana, and Avery Kyle is doing her best to make us proud! She's made it to the top 20 on the show. Seriously, how great does her "Sportsman's Paradise" burger look?

The contestants on the show compete for $100,000. While there is an adult-sized version of the show, the contestants on Junior don't really get to catch a break. They still have to do adult-sized work!

They still do scallop shucking, and work with sharp knives, while coming up with new recipes on the fly, and only a short amount of time to do it in.

Kyle told 225 Magazine, "The time really does get to you. And you're cooking for some of the best judges in the world, so it can get overwhelming."

One of the most interesting things to her was seeing what the other contestants came up with, as she was the only one who had cooked scallops before.

The remaining contestants will go on to compete in episode 3 of the show, which airs this Friday (November 20th) at 7pm on Fox.
