Festival season in south Louisiana is in full swing and one of our favorites is the Smoked Meat Festival in Ville Platte. Not only do they whip up great cuisine, throw in great carnival rides and games and top it off with smokin' hot music, the coolest thing is that the festival is dedicated to Veterans of all military branches.

This year's Smoked Meat Festival runs Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd and is located near the Northside Civic Center at 704 N. Soileau St. (The carnival actually opens on Thursday night.)

Daily admission to the festival is $10 and a reminder that ice chests are prohibited.

Each night there will be some terrific live music. On Friday night it's Wicked Waters from 6:30pm-8:30pm followed by Hit N Run from 9:00pm to midnight.

Then Saturday night, the music will start at 7:00pm with One Trick Pony. They'll play for a couple of hours and then be followed by headliner, country music star Aaron Tippin'. He'll hit the stage around 9:30pm.
