Put on my blue suede shoes and I boarded the plane, Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues in the middle of the pourin' rain

That is the opening line from  Walking In Memphis, a song that helped earn singer/songwriter Marc Cohn a Grammy award. The Acadiana Center for the Arts proudly welcomes Cohn to the James Devin Moncus Theater on March 26th as part of their Singer/Songwriter series.

Cohn's talents were originally discovered by Carly Simon in the Mid-1980's and after several unsuccessful attempts to launch his music career he finally hit it big with Walking in Memphis. The song was also a huge hit for country super group Lonestar.

For Cohn it's never been about the hits as much as it has been about the song. Cohn's ability to weave a story, a thought, a feeling and emotion through words and music has earned him high critical acclaim even though his commercial success has never quite recaptured the magic of Walking in Memphis.

You can see Marc Cohn and hear his songs and listen to his stories behind those songs in one of the  most intimate music venues in Acadiana. The Moncus Theater at the Acadiana Center of the Arts is one of the most sonically pleasing performance venues in the country. Tickets for Mark Cohn are still available but they are selling briskly and seating is limited.
