If you're an allergy sufferer then Acadiana's recent run of cool clear weather has meant misery for you. I was watching Good Morning Acadiana and heard Elizabeth Hill mention how her allergies had really kicked in the past few days.

If you follow the conversation on Facebook you can see that Lizzie isn't the only one who's been suffering the symptoms.

What is the reason we're all sneezing, wheezing and rubbing our noses raw? The pollen count is very high. Think about it like this, when the wind blows into Acadiana from the north or northwest it is blowing across the Great Plains.

That means all the pollen from trees and grasses are being blown into our area we all start to sneeze.I used to tell people I was allergic to Oklahoma, it turns out I was actually telling the truth in a round about way.

What can you do to prevent allergies? There really isn't much you can do to prevent them. You can take steps to make the symptoms less severe and ease your suffering. Most of us can get by with an over the counter medicine and nasal spray. If you're really feeling the effects you probably should ask your doctor. There are more potent allergy solutions that can help you breath better and feel better until it is time to start complaining about the humidity and the heat.
