Acadiana School Closures For Friday, December 8th

There is a chance of some freezing rain in Lafayette tomorrow, and because of that, several area schools will be closing.

The administration is worried that roads, bridges and/or overpasses might collect freezing rain and ice.

Out of an abundance of caution, closing schools for Friday, December 8th is the best decision.

The list below is what we have so far and will be updated as we get new information.

Lafayette Parish

• All Lafayette Parish schools and offices
• Lafayette Parish Catholic schools are closed due to severe weather Friday, December 8.  Officials say they are monitoring possible public school closures in other Acadiana parishes and will announce any decisions regarding Catholic schools in those parishes.
• Our Lady of Fatima
• Lafayette Christian Academy
• St Cecilia in Broussard
• All three campuses of Ascension Episcopal School
• Episcopal School of Acadiana - Cade and Lafayette
• Gethsemane Christian Academy and Gethsemane LaPetite Early Childhood Development Center

• All Locations of Sugar 'n Spice Preschools and Vacation Station

St. Martin Parish

• All St. Martin Parish Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 8^th, due to inclement weather conditions.

• New Beginning Christian Academy in Breaux Bridge

St. Mary Parish

• All St. Mary Parish public schools and offices
• V.B. Glencoe Charter School
• St. Mary Parish Catholic Schools: St. John Elementary and Hanson Memorial High are closed (all other Catholic schools in St. Mary Parish are in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux)
• The Diocese of Houma Thibodaux reports that Central Catholic High School and Holy Cross Elementary in Morgan City are closed.

Vermilion Parish

• All Vermilion Parish public schools and offices
