A fiery crash involving two 18 wheelers continues to have portions of Interstate 10 closed early this morning. The westbound lanes of the I-10 near Henderson. According to authorities an east bound tractor trailer crossed the median and slammed head on into a west bound rig and burst into flames. There is at least one death reported in connection with this accident.

Troopers also say the 18 wheeler that burst into flames was carrying "drilling mud" which is a petroleum based substance. The Dept of Environmental Quality will be in charge of cleanup. Authorities anticipate the west bound lanes will remain closed for several more  hours while cleanup continues.

UPDATE 4:00 p.m. -- DOTD says they will try to open the left lane of I-10 westbound at some point tonight between 6 and 7. They warn traffic will be extremely congested, so Highway 190 is still recommended as a detour route.
