Maybe it's the fact that hazy rhymes with lazy that we have had so many songs written about the lazy hazy days of Summer. Or it could be that every so often dust from the Sahara Desert finds its way across the Atlantic Ocean and filters out some of the blistering South Louisiana Summer sunlight.

The trans ocean winds, the same breezes that push tropical waves off the African Continent and into the tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean are responsible. This winds blow at a very high velocity in the upper levels and from time to time can pick up quite a bit of dust from the Sahara.

What does all this dust mean to our forecast? Not a lot. Other than we should see some spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the next few days. All of that dust in the high reaches of the atmosphere should really provide some interesting color for those who enjoy nature's early morning and late day light show.
