An amazing night of local and regional talent was on display last night at Cowboy's Night Club in Lafayette for the annual Country Showdown.

It was a tough task for our panel of judges, but they decided on the winner and that was Alfred Doucet of Egan. Alfred performed an original song he wrote called "Someone's Baby".

Alfred now moves on to the state competition. The winner of that contest will then move on to the regional then possibly national competition where the grand prize winner gets $100,000 in cash and prizes

April Provost of Duson finished second after her powerful performance of the Carrie Underwood hit "Church Bells".

Rounding out the top three was Hailee Saintes from New Iberia. She sassed her way through an original that she wrote.

A huge thanks to all the outstanding contestants who poured their hearts and souls out on stage and took the leap to put their talents out there for everyone to hear.

We also must give another big thank you to Service Chevrolet Cadillac for once again being our sponsor of the Country Showdown. Also, to Mickey Martin and the fine staff at Cowboy's Night Club. Big props for helping us put on a first class event at one of the best night clubs in the area.

More thanks goes to Cowboys Western Store, Awards & Trophies and Guitar Center for supplying prizes for the contestants. Thanks also to our friends at Copeland's on Ambassador for providing an amazing meal for our judges before the Showdown.

A final thank you goes out to our five judges for lending their expertise and time to judge the Showdown.
