This past weekend saw Lafayette's premier running event, the Cajun Cup wind through the streets of downtown. In about two weeks I along with my wife Jill and TV 3's Tracy Wirtz will be part of a South Louisiana group that will travel to Memphis Tennessee for the St Jude Memphis Marathon. We won't be running the 26.2 mile distance, instead we will opt for the 13.1 mile half marathon and to be truthful we won't be "running" either. We will be doing a walk run, which is a combination jog, walk, breath hard, complain about sore feet kind of thing.

The St Jude event is a big fund raiser for St Jude Hospital and you already know how we love our St Jude babies and families here at 97.3 The Dawg. So as we take our time covering the distance in Memphis I would like to put in to perspective just how fast real marathoners run.  The best of the best marathoners run faster over 26.2 miles than I can run for 26 feet. You and I would consider their pace an all out sprint, they do it for the entire marathon! Do you want to see what that looks like versus normal people?

It is truly amazing what people can do when they put their minds to it huh? On December 3rd I ask you to put your mind on helping us make a difference in Memphis.

If you would like to donate to the cause you can use a secure link on my friend Winky Dinky Dawg's page. He is running as a hero, that means he has raised over $500 for the babies at St Jude. Wink(real name Rob)  needs a little more than $200 to hit his personal goal, I would appreciate if you would help him out. He is a good guy, he is one of my best friends in the whole world and he has no idea I am asking you to do this, so let's surprise him want to?
