Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested a Monroe man for extortion of a Louisiana state representative.

According to LSP, investigators received a complaint from the representative’s Baton Rouge office after receiving a threatening email. The sender, 31-year-old Roy Green of Monroe, stated in the email that if the representative did not support marijuana law reform, he “would personally see to it that your office and livelihood are placed into danger.”

During questioning Green told investigators that he did not remember sending an email but that he did post the message on Facebook. Green was charged with extortion and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.

Green faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

No word on the identity of the threatened representative.
