Another candidate has dropped his name in the hat for the Lafayette City Marshal's race.

Joseph Bowman "J.B." Cormier is a lifelong Lafayette resident and a 35-year law enforcement professional who says he's worked with the Lafayette Police Department, Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Department of Justice. He says he's also worked as commander of Lafayette's Criminal Investigation Division and as community relations officer for the D.A.R.E. program.

Cormier says he earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He says in addition to training with Louisiana State University's law enforcement and traffic institutes, he's also been educated by the Department of the Army, the Department of Justice and the National Law Enforcement Institute.

Cormier joins Brian Pope, Kip Judice and five-term Lafayette City Marshal Earl "Nicky" Picard in the race.
