Apparent Smoothie World Owner Sends Facebook Message After Release From Police Custody
It appears Tai Nguyen, the man accused of allegedly locking himself inside Smoothie World over two weeks ago, is out of police custody.
Nguyen owns Smoothie World, located at Verot School Road and Pinhook Road in Lafayette. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says there were people inside the store, but Nguyen let them go before going on a Facebook video rant.
Nguyen, who police say was armed with a knife, was eventually taken into custody and suffered minor injuries. The police were awaiting results of a psychiatric evaluation before pressing charges, but those results have not yet been released.
Nguyen has posted a message addressing the media's coverage of his earlier ordeal and the people that know him.
