20-year-old Travonte Broussard of Lafayette has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the drive-by shooting death of 19-year-old Frederick Joseph in July 2012.

Joseph was a hoops star at Westgate High School. He was attending North Dakota State on a basketball scholarship, until Lafayette Police say he and a 23-year-old New Iberia man, who suffered serious injuries but survived, were gunned down in the parking lot of Taco Bell on West Congress Street.

A couple of days after the July 2012 shooting, Lafayette Police arrested 18-year-old Kentrell James Morrison of Lafayette, charging him with 1st Degree Murder and Attempted 1st Degree Murder.

Broussard’s bond has been set at $1,000,000.00 on the murder charge. He faces an attempted 2nd degree murder charge, as well. Bond for that has been set at $50,000.00.
