You may recall a few days ago the announcement that Bayou Country Superfest would not be held at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge for the next two years due to renovations of the facility.

The big question has been circulating -- Where will it be held next year?

While we still haven't heard anything official, one facility nearby has offered to host the party.

Officials at Lamar Dixon Expo Center in nearby Gonzales, Louisiana say they would be willing to hold the annual country music festival.

“Lamar Dixon provides the best opportunity to retain Bayou Country Superfest in the Capital Region,” said Kyle Rogers, General Manager of the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. “We are ready to show promoters and fans alike our capacity and capability for festivals just like this one.”

Of course, a move like this would hit Baton Rouge hard financially if the festival decides to relocate outside of East Baton Rouge Parish. (Gonzales is in Ascension Parish.)

Paul Arrigo, the president of Visit Baton Rouge, says that Baton Rouge hotels and restaurants profited greatly from Bayou Country Superfest. He said the city saw more than 300 percent in returns.

“There are things that are attractions and things that are attractors, and because Superfest was an attractor, it brought people into town,” Arrigo said.

Arrigo said Baton Rouge businesses could see a significant dip in revenue next May should the festival move away from the Capital City.

We shall see, hopefully soon, where the event will move. Many Acadiana residents have offered up a great suggestion. Have it at Cajun Field!

No word from UL officials whether that has even been thought of much less brought up.
