Could police be getting closer to catching 43-year-old Wade Barrette Lohse of Youngsville, the man who walked out of his vehicular homicide trial in the death of Cacie Barras? Authorities believe Lohse, who posted a rambling video on youtube a few days ago trying to explain himself, may have been in Salem, Virginia, this week.

Thursday night, around 9 p.m., Salem Police responded to a suspicious person/vehicle complaint and found a white 2011 Mazda 6 bearing Louisiana license plates in the 100 block of Sheraton Drive. Officers say it was stolen, but were unable to locate the person who was seen with the car, although police say further investigation shows it was possibly Lohse.

Then, around 7 a.m. Friday morning, a 1999 white Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive, near the area where the Mazda was found. The Jeep bears Virginia registration XXF-5792 and has a red sticker affixed to the rear bumper bearing the message "I Have A Great Dane That Is Smarter Than Your Honor Student". The vehicle also has a taillight and headlight that are not operational. But, police say no one witnessed the Jeep being stolen. Police believe it's possible the Lohse was responsible for this as well.

Lohse is wanted in Louisiana for Failing to Appear in court on original charges of Vehicular Homicide, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Burglary.

Lohse is described as a white male, 5'10, 170 with blond or graying hair with hazel eyes. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle or Lohse is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency or the United States Marshal's office at 337-319-4086 or 337-251-6921.
