UPDATE: I-10 West is now OPEN, according to La. State Police.

UPDATE: Traffic is now being detoured to US 190 at the Lobdell exit.

Louisiana State Police report the westbound lanes of I-10 over the Basin are closed while crews work to clean up after a fire. Troop I Spokesman, Master Trooper Brooks David says the interstate is closed at mile marker 126 due to a fire involving an 18-wheeler. No other details were given.

Traffic is not being detoured at this time, but if you are headed westbound toward the Atchafalaya Basin, the alternate route is US 190 to Opelousas. You would then need to take I-49 south back to I-10 in Lafayette.

We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
