The eyes of America and the focus of the world will be on Baton Rouge in June of 2014 when the city hosts Miss USA 2014. The pageant is set for Sunday June 8th in Baton Rouge's River Center. The pageant is operated by Donald Trump and NBC Universal will be another opportunity for the state's capital city to be in the national spotlight.

Officials with visit Baton Rouge say the pageant is scheduled to be in the city two weeks after Bayou Country Superfest, another national event that will bring visitors and publicity to the area. Speaking to the Louisiana Radio Network , Visit Baton Rouge President Paul Arrigo said,

"For the world to see what a great community we are, what great citizens we are, what friendly and helpful folks we are -- and as long as we're going to be that way, let's let everybody know,"

Hosting two major events in a two week time frame should help serve notice to the rest of the country and the world that Louisiana is not only a warm and friendly place to visit but we have the facilities and infrastructure to handle the crowds and visitors.

Tickets for the June 8th pageant will be available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
