In conjunction with the George Rodrigue exhibit, and to celebrate what would have been George Rodrigue's 71st birthday, Bayou Teche Museum will host a 5K run on Friday, March 13, 2015.  The theme is Loup Garou, or Cajun Werewolf, and it will be a nighttime run beginning at 7 p.m.

Start and end of the race will be at the Steamboat Warehouse Pavilion facing Bayou Teche on Fulton Street. There will also be a one mile run/stroll beginning at the same time. Mayor Hilda Curry will read a proclamation declaring March 13 "George Rodrigue Day"  and a birthday celebration will follow.

Awards will be Overall Male and Female First to Finish Race, 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each category. Medals will be awarded to 1st - 3rd place finishers in each category.

The $30 registration fee for the 5K run and $20 fee for the one mile walk include a Loup Garou Run glow-in-the-dark t-shirt and admission to the George Rodrigue exhibit.

To register, please visit CajunTiming.com or the Bayou Teche Museum's Facebook page, or come by the museum during visiting hours, Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 131 E. Main St. in New Iberia.

All proceeds benefit the Bayou Teche Museum and honor George Rodrigue on his birthday. The legend of the Loup Garou was one of the inspirations of Rodrigue's Blue Dog paintings, several of which are currently on display at the museum.
