The community is invited to let the good times flow on Sunday, October 21 for Bayou Vermilion District’s Bayou Vermilion Festival & inaugural Boat Parade! The Bayou Vermilion Festival is a celebration of and on the Vermilion River and aims to increase awareness of the river as a viable source of recreation for Lafayette Parish.

Festivities begin at 10:00 am at Vermillionville. Activities throughout the day include babbitt pouring and boat restoration demonstrations, canoeing, children’s activities and live music by Goldman Thibodeaux & The Lawtell Playboys.

Bayou Vermilion Festival’s boat parade will be launching from Vermilionville at 2 p.m. with a send off toast hosted by this year’s Grand Marshal, Lafayette Parish President Joey Durel. The parade will consist of antique putt-putt boat owners from around the south, a musician’s barge with live music as well as local boat owners and paddlers who care to join in the parade.

Sounds like an awesome way to spend Sunday with the family, enjoying our beautiful naturaral habitat here in Lafayette!
