Vegas odds for the New Orleans Saints aren't favorable for winning Super Bowl 51. At 80-1, the odds have dialed back from the 50-1 line before the NFL draft.

While many don't expect the Saints to win the Super Bowl, it's the overall win total for 2016 that caught my attention and likely the attention of bettors.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook currently sets the Saints win total next season at 6.5 games.

The Saints have never finished worse than 7-9 since Sean Payton and Drew Brees came to New Orleans in 2006. Granted, they've finished 7-9 three of the last four seasons, but 7 wins was still reached with a defense that ranked at or near the bottom of the league.

With Brees under center, the Saints will be able to reach 7 wins this season.

Will the defense still struggle? Probably.

Do they need more talent at guard? Yes.

Is Brees still good enough at the age of 37 to lead the Saints offense with talent like Terron Armstead, Brandin Cooks and Mark Ingram to at least 7 victories? You bet.

If Brees goes down for any amount of time, the Saints likely won't reach 7 wins.

Will he play the majority of offensive snaps this season? If you bet on that, bet on the over.
