Ever since the beginning of 2017, my cell phone has been ringing non-stop with scammers. Sometimes it's the "Your car's warranty is about to expire". Sometimes it's "We can lower the interest on your American Express card". I don't have an American Express card. However, these pale in comparison to this dangerous new "Can you hear me?" phone scam.

If your phone rings and someone asks “Can you hear me?”, hang up. Do NOT answer them. What the scammer is trying to do is record your voice saying “yes” and then use it to authorize unwanted charges on a phone or utility bill.
