Big & Rich’s ‘8th Of November’ Is A True Story, And Amazingly Inspiring [VIDEO]
Today, as you know, is the 8th of November. Just a another day for most of us, but for some, it’s a day they’ll never forget.
“The 8th of November” from Big & Rich is a true story based on an event that happened during the Vietnam War. Operation Hump was a search and destroy operation initiated on 8 November 1965 by the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
Ever wondered where Big Kenny got his top hat? He got it from one of the men featured in this video. Kris Kristofferson says “Our friend, Niles Harris, retired 25 years United States Army, the guy who gave Big Kenny his top hat, was one of the wounded who lived. This song is his story. Caught in the action of kill or be killed, greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother.”
