It’s been a Carrie Underwood-centric day in the country community. Fresh off today’s announcement that her new single ‘Good Girl‘ is due to drop at radio next month, one of Underwood’s songs was performed on her former stomping grounds of ‘American Idol.’

Teenage singer Shelby Tweten, who hails from Mankato, Minn., inhabited Underwood’s ‘Temporary Home’ during her audition in Aspen, Colo. for Season 11 of ‘Idol.’

Tweten, who revealed that she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, bravely shared details of her situation with viewers. She said that when she goes off her meds, she has hypomanic episodes where she shivers and loses control over her body. When that happens, her mom suggests that they sing together and it helps! Tweten said that the dream of ‘American Idol’ is what keeps her together. That declaration makes this show a little more important and more poignant, doesn’t it?

During her pre-performance interview, Tweten’s exaggerated Midwestern accent was prominent but she turned country as she belted out Underwood’s emotional song. J. Lo got weepy, with the judges tossing out terms like ‘so beautiful,’ ‘so pretty’ and ‘there’s something going on.’ That, combined with Tweten’s All-American image — like her Taylor Swift-ian ringlets and the pink and purple strapless sundress that showed off her petite figure — means that Shelby Tweten could make a go of it!

Even her name sounds like that of a country superstar, doesn’t it?
