Blair Daly – #1 Songwriter – Acadiana Native
Well, it’s obvious to everyone that we have a great musical heritage here in Acadiana – people come from all over the world to hear our Cajun and Zydeco tunes…but that is not ALL we have here in South Louisiana!
Breaux Bridge native, and Atlantic Nashville recording artist Hunter Hayes has a #1 song, fixing to get another one, and is nominated for 3 Grammy Awards. Opelousas native, and Nashville songwriter Blair Daly is a great example of someone who has Louisiana roots, and is making it big in Music City, USA. Blair Daly has written No. 1 songs for Rascal Flatts (“Stand”), Big & Rich (“Wild West Show”), Faith Hill (“Paris”) and others. Uncle Kracker’s “Smile,” a 2009 country hit that crossed over to the pop Top 40, is also a Daly creation.Daly’s latest hits include Kip Moore’s “Beer Money” and Big & Rich’s “That’s Why I Pray” -pretty impressive!
But Daly’s songwriting talent is not exclusive to Nashville. He’s also had songs recorded by the Backstreet Boys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nikki Sixx, Il Divo and the Black Veil Brides. Daly wrote the Brides’ “Unbroken” and the song landed in “The Avengers” movie soundtrack.
It’s so great to live in an area of the country where music is so important, and flowers into such creativity! Congrats to Blair Daly on all his successes, we are definitely
proud of this Acadiana native!!
