One of music's iconic institutions is heading to the small screen, but it needs your help. Nashville's historic Bluebird Cafe recently launched a campaign to fund the indie film Bluebird: The Moviea documentary about the legendary venue's influence on artists, songwriters and the music world at large.

In honor of the Bluebird's 35th anniversary, Riverside Entertainment has partnered with general manager Erika Nichols, director Brian Loschiavo and DP Jeff Molyneaux to produce the film and bring the famous story of the Bluebird to life. One of Music City's essential attractions, the songwriting venue draws large crowds that outnumber the venue's 90-seat capacity. It marks the site where superstars Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift were discovered, while Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley and several other huge stars have also graced its famous "in the round" concept.

"The Bluebird Cafe truly is one of those 'if these walls could talk' venues, where history is made," Nichols says in a press release. "The room is small and it's crowded, but that proximity creates an intimacy where the writers and the audience are all 'in it together.' It's an emotional experience to be that close to the song, and both the writers and the audience can feel that ... in fact, that energy is captured in the very walls of the venue. For songwriters, the fact that the audience listens is inspirational. For the audience, the chance to hear the soul and the story behind the song is life-changing."

"We hope to capture all of that magic on film through this campaign," she adds. The campaign currently has a goal of $500,000 and ends on Nov. 20. Go here to help.
