Abbeville's Koryn Hawthorne advanced to the next round of competition on "The Voice" last night. She now joins Lafayette native Travis Ewing as both are now moving on to the knockout round.

16-year-old Hawthorne was paired up against R&B artist Vance Smith. They both sang Ariana Grande's hit "Love Me Harder".

Her coach, Christina Aguilera, decided that she advance and remain with the team.

"You have an amazing spirit in there, that lives in your vocal cords," said Aguilera. "You brought it to a whole different level.

"So I have to go with Koryn."

Koryn and Travis move on to the knockout round, where artists are paired against teammates. But they select and perform their own songs while their competitor waits and watches.

Winners in the knockout rounds advance to live playoff rounds. "The Voice" airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 7pm on NBC.
