Louisiana State Police arrested a Church Point man for vehicular homicide after he collided with a car while driving impaired, killing a Branch woman.

Master Trooper Brooks David said the collision occurred on La. 35 south of La 367 at approximately 11:20 p.m. Saturday night.

The preliminary investigation of the crash revealed 24-year-old Jean Mouille attempted to pass a car driven by 34-year-old Crystal Castille when he struck the rear of Castille's car. Castille's car ran off the right side of the road striking a utility pole.

Though Castille was wearing a seat belt, she sustained critical injuries. She was transported to Acadia-St. Landry Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Mouille, who was not injured, submitted to a chemical breath test and was found to be over the legal blood-alcohol limit. He was charged with vehicular homicide, reckless operation, open container violation and illegal window tint. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Correctional Center.
