Brandon Scott Lavergne is again asking a judge to throw out his guilty pleas. Lavergne is sentenced to life in prison at Angola after confessing to killing Mickey Shunick and Lisa Pate. He initially filed the documents in January, but a judge denied his request and told him to re-file his motion in accordance with state law. His latest filing was filed Thursday, Feb. 7.

Lavernge claims his constitutional rights were violated, his lawyers were ineffective, he was forced to confess and claims Lafayette was not the proper venue for the Lisa Pate case. In his post-conviction relief motion, Lavergne says, "The court did not have jurisidiction in the Lisa Pate case, the conviction was obtained through violations of the petitioners constitutional rights."
