Brantley Gilbert Admits His ‘Wordy’ Songs Can Be Difficult to Remember
Country newcomer Brantley Gilbert‘s biggest fear is one every artist has had to address at some point. Usually a superstar can just point the microphone toward the crowd and let them pick up the words he or she has forgotten, but Gilbert only has a few songs that everyone in attendance knows the words to.
“Forgetting the words is one of my biggest fears, I think,” he says laughing. “That’d be pretty embarrassing if I froze up cause a lot of my songs are wordy. I don’t know where I’d pick it back up at.” Fortunately, his fan base is so loyal that if he did slip singing a deep cut from ‘Halfway to Heaven,’ there should be at least a few fans that can help out. But Gilbert isn’t taking that chance.
“I’ll figure something out,” he jokes. “I’ll fake a fall or a broke leg or something.” Gilbert is currently on tour with Eric Church. The Blood Sweat and Beers tour will continue on Feb. 16 in Greenville, S.C. through May 19. His current single ‘You Don’t Know Her Like I Do’ is inside the Top 30 on the country music charts. The song was also a four time winner on the Taste of Country Showdown, making it one of three Hall of Fame inductees.
