(Updated 0400CST) Police in California now say 12 people were fatally wounded in the shooting. Among the dead is a member of law enforcement. The shooter is reported to be among the dead as well. Witnesses told police that at least 30 shots were fired by the shooter after he entered the nightclub. The scene is an active crime scene and investigators are currently interviewing witnesses about the incident.

 

(Original Story)Details are sketchy and are still coming in as police in California are working what is being described as an active shooter investigation. According to reports, a gunman opened fire at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks California about 11:20 California Time.

The shooter reportedly had smoke grenades and fired multiple shots as he entered the building. KCRA Television is reporting that at least 11 people have been injured. Meanwhile, KABC Television is reporting at least one person was fatally wounded in the shooting.

At least one Deputy Sheriff from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department is reportedly among the injured. This is a developing story and more injuries or possible fatalities could be reported once investigators have time to asses the scene.

The bar was reportedly hosting a "College Country Night" event for patrons 18 and older. There have been no reports of arrests or suspects in custody as of this writing.
