Brees To Tampa Bay For A Shot At Top Draft Pick?

I told you the NFL was some of the most delicious theater that has ever been performed in public. Now comes this story out of the rumor mill that Drew Brees is on the trading block to Tampa Bay of all places. Please note, this a rumor, unfounded, not sourced, but suddenly being reported by respectable media outlets like Yahoo Sports, ESPN ,and the Pensacola Fishing Forum.

Let me clarify, those media outlets reported on the rumor, not the real possibility that this could  or would happen. Speculation in some media outlets says the trade of Jimmy Graham does open the door for some even more interesting trade opportunities for the  black and  gold.

Drew Brees has been more than a quarterback for the Saints. He has been a great community leader, he's been an eloquent ambassador for the city and the state, and he and his wife make beautiful  babies. While those qualities are good, they  won't keep you around in the NFL if you  aren't winning.  The fact is that Drew is closer to the end than  he is to the beginning and in the NFL the present and the future are the only time measurements that have value.

So here is the rumor the Saints trade Brees and his salary cap crushing salary to Tampa Bay for the rights to acquire the top pick in the NFL Draft.  The  rumor mill says that top pick is going to  be Jameis Winston of Florida State.  See I told you this NFL stuff is great theater. So for all of you who were whining on social media that Graham's departure was Brees' fault, how would you swallow that story if it turned out to be true.
