Being a parent is one of the toughest yet most rewarding things that can happen to a person. Here in South Louisiana we take family approach to the raising of our little ones. What I mean by that is quite often aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and extended family take part in the total raising of the child. Around here we learn to dance at festivals and throw beads at Mardi Gras .  I guess other places they teach kids how to buy subway tickets and shovel snow. It's all about family.

Since humans aren't the only animals that have a sense of family I thought I would share this video my son Jack sent to me. His roommate at college shared this with him and he thought about all the great life lessons I had taught him. I think he was being sarcastic. I am just not sure whether my son thinks of me as the dog or the cat.
