Another strong starting pitching performance was the key Sunday as Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns completed their sweep of Louisiana-Monroe, beating the Warhawks 3-2 in front of 2,360 at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The win was the fifth straight for the Cajuns (16-3, 3-0 Sun Belt) and moved them into a tie with Arkansas State and Western Kentucky after the first weekend of conference play.

After two great pitching performances in the first two games of the series, it was Cody Boutte's turn on Sunday.  The junior left-hander worked 8.1 innings of six hit ball before giving way to Matt Hicks, who got the final two outs for his seventh save of the season.

ULM got on the board first on an RBI single by Jeff Fuller, but the Cajuns came right back with two in the bottom of the inning, as freshman Blake Trahan launched his second home run of the season to left field to tie the game off Warhawks starter Alex Dumaine (1-2) and Tyler Girouard broke the tie with a two out single, scoring Caleb Adams, who had doubled.

The Cajuns added a run in the sixth on a one-out single by Seth Harrison, whose hitting streak reached eleven games.  Harrison stole second and scored on Girouard's second hit of the game with what proved to be the game winner.

Boutte (4-0) gave up a triple to Chris Dudley leading off the seventh, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Lafayette (Acadiana) native Ryan Bergeron.  Boutte entered the ninth inning with a four hitter, but Kodie Tidwell and Dudley got back to back singles with one out in the ninth.  Coach Tony Robichaux then summoned Hicks from the bullpen for the second straight day.  The right hander got pinch hitter Brandon Alexander to hit back to the mound, but Hicks throw to second was off target, loading the bases.  Pinch hitter Corben Green also hit the ball back to Hicks, who threw home to Michael Strentz to force Tidwell, but Strentz' attempt at the double play failed when his throw pulled first baseman Chase Compton off the bag.  But Hicks got Dalton Herrington to ground to Compton for the final out.

The Cajuns will now host Southern University Tuesday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at 6pm.  Right hander Chase Traffica is scheduled to get the start.
