Our friend Kevin Foote who writes for The Daily Advertiser newspaper and occasionally goes off on a rant on ESPN 1420 radio calls baseball  the "perfect game". His reason?  Based on the rules of the game, the game decides when the game is over, not a clock, not a whistle, not an official. The game ends when each team has had an equal amount of turns to win it.

Last night or should I say earlier this morning the beauty of baseball shunned Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns and smiled upon the host team at the Sun Belt Tournament, Georgia Southern. The Cajuns were in control of the ballgame, in fact, they were cruising by a score of 5 -1 in the top of the 9th inning.

With just three strikes left in the Georgia Southern season, Logan Baldwin lifted a shot that just barely stayed fair and just barely cleared the  J.I. Clements Stadium "blue monster". By the way, that shot came with the bases loaded and suddenly the "cruise control" Cajuns found themselves in a tie game. That was until the Eagles added one more to take a 6-5 lead going into the Cajun bottom of the 9th.

Louisiana rallied to get a run across and then had the potential winning run thrown out at the plate. There was no score in the 10th inning but the 11th was a different story. That's when the Eagles were able to push the go-ahead run across the plate and the Cajuns couldn't counter in the bottom of the frame.

The final score was Georgia Southern 7, Louisiana 6. This loss effectively ends the 2017 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns baseball season. Most pundits believe the Cajuns will be on the outside looking in when the pairings for the NCAA Tournament are announced on Monday.  However, this is the "perfect game" and it's not over until the game decides it's over.
