Parker Davidson kicked a 21 yard field goal with 1:31 remaining to give New Mexico State  a 37-34 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns before an announced crowd of 17,023 Saturday at Cajun Field.

Davidson's kick came after Cajuns' punter Steven Coutts shanked a five yard punt which gave the Aggies (3-7, 3-3) great field position at the Cajuns' 34 yard line.  The Aggies got a 14 yard run by Larry Rose III, who narrowly missed his third straight 200-yard rushing game and an Andrew Allen pass to Tyrion Taylor to set up the winning kick.

The Cajuns had one more chance after the kick but Brooks Haack's pass was intercepted by Rodney Butler on the second play after the kickoff and NMSU ran out the clock for its third straight win after losing seven straight to open the season.

Louisiana (4-6, 3-3) had taken a 34-27 lead with 6:24 remaining on a 31 yard pass from Brooks Haack to Jamal Robinson.  But Robinson was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for taking a bow in the end zone after the score and the ensuing kick from the 20 yard line gave NMSU great field position at their 47 yard line.  The Aggies needed just eight plays to traverse the 53 yards with quarterback Andrew Allen hitting Greg Hogan with a 23 yard touchdown pass to tie the game with 3:59 left.

Allen threw four touchdown passes in the game on strikes of 58, 21, 23 and 23 yards in the game.  He completed just 13-31 passes for 243 yards.  He was sacked once.

Rose gained 191 yards on 27 carries.  Eight of the carries were for ten or more yards as the Aggies gained 498 yards on 88 snaps.  NMSU was 7-19 on third down, but converted 2-3 on fourth down.

The Cajuns were led by Elijah McGuire, who got back on track, gaining 159 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns on runs of 64 and 27 yards.  Haack 24-37 for 283 yards and two scores with an interception.  Jamal Robinson was on the receiving end of twelve of those passes for 188 yards.

The Cajuns now have their back against the wall in their quest for a fifth straight bowl game as they travel to Appalachian State next Saturday
