Jace Conrad and Ryan Leonards had three hits apiece and Seth Harrison drove in three runs as the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns defeated Western Kentucky 10-9 to earn a split of their Saturday doubleheader.

The Cajuns (25-3, 7-1 Sun Belt) saw their 14-game winning streak come to an end in game one as WKU pounded out 16 hits en route to a 14-3 win.

Carson Baranik (5-0) allowed ten hits and six runs over 5.2 innings, but left the game with a 9-6 lead to get the win.

The Hilltoppers got three runs in the top of the first inning, but the Cajuns scored seven times in the first two innings off losing pitcher Austin Clay (3-2).  Clay allowed eleven hits and nine runs, eight earned, over five innings of work.  Nine of the Cajuns’ 14 hits went for extra bases in the nightcap.

WKU (14-13, 4-4) got to Louisiana starter Austin Robichaux (4-2) in game one, scoring seven times, including a five run fourth, to erase an early 2-0 lead.  The Hilltoppers added another six runs in the sixth to turn the game into a rout.  Regan Flaherty, Anderson Miller and Leiff Clarkson each had three hits to pace the Hilltoppers’ 16 hit attack.  Flaherty drove in six runs and had six hits in the doubleheader and increased his hitting streak to 16 games.

Justin Hageman (2-1) scattered ten hits over seven innings to get the win in game one.

The two teams will play the final game of their series Sunday at 12 noon.
