Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon, when coach Mark Hudspeth’s squad travels to Oxford, Mississippi to take on the 15th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels, in non-conference action at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The Cajun Harley Davidson Tailgate begins at 1 o’clock on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, with the rest of the network, including Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com joining the broadcast in time for the Hampton Toyota Pregame Show, which will begin at 2 pm.

Kickoff is set for 3 o’clock.

This will mark the fourth meeting between the two schools, which dates back to 1986, with every game being played in Oxford, Mississippi.

Ole Miss leads the all-time series, 3-0, including a 43-21 win back in 2010 in the last match-up between the two schools.

The Rebels have defeated the Cajuns by scores of 21-20 (1986), 24-14 (1987), and 43-21 (2010) in the three games in the series.

Louisiana, who fell to Louisiana Tech last week, 48-20, is 1-1 on the season, while Ole Miss, who defeated Vanderbilt, 41-3, last week, will come in with an overall record of 2-0.

Offensively, the Cajuns are averaging 32.5 points, 463.5 yards, 250.5 passing yards, and 213 rushing yards per game, while the Rebels are averaging 38 points, 502.5 total yards, 377 passing yards, and 125 rushing yards a contest.

Defensively, Louisiana is allowing 27 points, 406 total yards, 157.5 rushing yards, and 248.5 passing yards per game, while Ole Miss is giving up an average of 8 points, 283 yards of total offense, 121 rushing yards, and 162 passing yards an outing.

The Cajuns are led by senior quarterback Terrance Broadway, who has thrown for 387 yards and four touchdowns, along with sophomore running back Elijah McGuire, who has 144 rushing yards and a touchdown, and senior receiver Jamal Robinson, who has seven catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rebels are paced by senior quarterback Bo Wallace, who has thrown for 707 yards and five touchdowns, along with freshman running back Jordan Wilkins, who has 48 rushing yards, and junior receiver Cody Gore, who has accumulated 195 receiving yards, including three touchdowns, on eight catches.

The game opens a two-game road trip for UL, who wil be on the road to take on Boise St. next week.
