Louisiana Ragin' Cajun strength and conditioning Rusty Whitt leaving UL for position at Texas Tech, as reported by Tim Buckely of The Advertiser.

Whitt leaves UL after 6 seasons with the program.

Whitt, shaped by his time in the military, spent two tours in Iraq with the Army's 10th Special Forces as Communication Sergeant.

Many of Whitt's training methods for UL student athletes involved training he used in the US Army.

In addition to working with the football team, he also developed strength and conditioning program for UL baseball, track and field and swimming.

Whitt gained national attention in 2011 when TV cameras caught shots of him with blood running down his forehead from an open wound he suffered when purposefully banging his head with players who were wearing helmets in moments when he was overcome with intensity.

His talent and attention to strength and conditioning have been a big part of the Cajuns athletic success over the last half dozen years.
