The Carencro High Bears have advanced to the class 5A state championship game, after defeating Byrd, 34-21, in the semifinal round of the LHSAA football playoffs on Friday night.

Carencro, the #7 seed in the 5A bracket moves onto the title game, against 5th-seeded West Monroe, who defeated Mandeville, 26-14, on Friday evening.

The Carencro/West Monroe game championship game will be held on Saturday, December 10, at 7 pm, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, in New Orleans.

Breaux Bridge and Vermilion Catholic weren’t as fortunate however.

The Tigers fell to Neville, 16-7, in a class 4A semifinal, while the Screaming Eagles lost for the first time all year, dropping a 54-41 class 1A semifinal contest to West St. John.
