Carrie Underwood Invites PS22 Kids Choir to Sing ‘So Small’ With Her in Concert
The popular 5th grade chorus at PS22 in Staten Island, N.Y. is no stranger to Carrie Underwood. The mega-popular country star has even sung with the kids at their school. But when the talented group of adolescents showed up to sing with Underwood at her concert in Newark, N.J., they really got a taste of what it's like to be a country star.
Underwood was already part of the way through her set when she invited the school choir onstage.
"They like to take songs that are on the radio and sing them -- and they sound so beautiful, I thought that I have to have them come sing with me," she explained to the audience, while the excited chorus line jumped around behind her. "So we invited them to the show, and you guys are gonna love this."
Then Underwood's band started to play her song 'So Small,' and the PS22 kids put on their game faces. As the country songbird belted out the first verse of the soulful song, they just swayed behind her. But as soon as she reached the chorus, dozens of young voices started to back her up.
Fans screamed and cheered not just for Underwood, but also for the brave 5th graders who stood on the stage behind her. Backup singers don't get any cuter than the PS22 chorus!
The 'Blown Away' hitmaker first met the talented group of kiddos when she sang 'Good Girl' with them at their school in April. The students became such a fan of Underwood that they learned to sing 'Blown Away' when it was released as a single a few months later. Now, they're so good that they're singing on stage with Underwood!
Following their in-concert duet, Underwood tweeted, “Thanks to all the wonderful kiddos from @ps22chorus for helping me out tonight! You all were perfect! I hope you had fun! Thanks again!”
Something tells us that those talented 10 and 11-year-olds had an awesome time.
