Now that Cassadee Pope has been crowned the winner of Season 3 of 'The Voice,' it's time for her to turn her attention toward recording an album. The newly-minted star says her sound will lean toward pop and rock, but will also feature some country elements.

“I’ve always been writing, so I have a lot of material ready to go,” the 22-year-old singer says. “It’s going to be very uplifting, pop rock, maybe just a little hint of country in there. It’s going to be everything you’ve seen on the show, that ’90s, early 2000s feel, with a modern twist to it.”

Pope has her coach, Blake Shelton, to thank for that in part. As he took her under his wing and mentored her, the 'Drink on It' singer steered her a little bit more toward country, adding a new element to her existing sound -- and it obviously worked. Throughout the season Pope covered several country hits on stage, but perhaps the most moving was her cover of 'Over You,' originally by Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert.

Shelton is more than a little bit proud of his new protege, which he makes obvious. "She's a great singer, she's a beautiful girl and she's a good person. You know, there's a lot of those out there in this world that are trying to make it, but Cassadee Pope has this little extra magic that God sprinkled on her that makes us all want to be around her and meet her and see her and talk to her," he raves. "If you're a guy, you have a crush on her. If you're a girl, you want to be her best friend. She's just a very special human being and she deserves this win."

The country star has promised to make a guest appearance on Pope's album, which as of yet has no title or anticipated release date.
