United States Senate candidate Bill Cassidy issued a statement on Friday concerning his 17 year old daughter. In that statement the candidate confirmed that is his daughter, an unmarried high school senior is pregnant. Will this situation affect Cassidy's run for United State's Senate? Most political observers think it will not.

Joshua Stockley, a political science professor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe doubts this news will be a political game changer.

"It's doubtful Senator Landrieu's campaign or any groups connected with her will find any particular reason to make this a campaign issue."

Stockley's comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network on July 4th and he likens the announcement that the Cassidy's would become grandparents to a similar situation involving Sara Palin.

"This really didn't have a significant impact on Sarah Palin. John McCain and Sarah Palin were defeated for very different reasons. None of which you can tie back to Bristol Palin."

Cassidy is currently in a very tight Senate race against incumbent Mary Landrieu.
