February 15, 2011 Do you remember films that taught us to duck and cover in the event of nuclear war? Like a desk was going to keep us safe from radioactive fallout. Do you remember when the words "in color" were included in the beginning of a lot of television shows? Do you remember how all the television stations carried the broadcast of astronauts blasting off to the moon? If you do, then you have no doubt heard the phrase, "Any child can grow up to be President of the United States".
February 10, 2011 I love stirring the pot of conspiracy, partly because it leads to great discussion and partly because it's fun to watch some people freak out over things that have been going on for years anyway. The Department of Transportation of the United States of America, that would be our government has announced they would love to see "data recorders" placed in all cars. They say it's so that in the event of a crash the "data recorder" much like the "black box" on an airplane can give investigators added information as to what really happened during the crash. This could lead to better built cars, better highway administration, better tracking and tracing of every American no matter where they travel or when they travel. What if the government also built in to these devices the ability to shut down a car with the flip of a switch bringing a fully mobile country to a dead standstill? Hey then we all be sitting ducks for a coup or takeover by a hostile administration. Okay maybe I am stirring the pot too fast on this one but still points to ponder.
February 3, 2011 We have a lot of fun at Anderson Cooper's expense on the Bruce and the Kennel Club show( We call him Dreamy!). The fact is, he is one of my favorite journalist on television. He stayed true to his word about helping New Orleans and the Gulf Coast after Katrina. He appears to genuinely care about the human condition. We might be concerned about his condition after it was learned that Cooper was punched and beaten while covering the riots in Cairo Egypt.
January 29, 2011 First let me give credit to Tracy Wirtz and KATC TV 3 for bringing this story to my attention. Tracy and I were discussing tax preparation and different software that folks like me and you can use to help us navigate through the I.R.S. web of confusion. That is when she pulled out this little fact and shared it with me, so I am sharing it with you. If you plan on itemizing your Federal Return, the I.R.S. says just hang on to it.
January 26, 2011 Be you Democrat, Republican, Tea Party, Independent or just regular American, what our country's leaders do and say has an effect on you. Sometimes it's a good effect sometimes it means you lose your job and your taxes go up. Last night the President of the United States addressed you and I. Whether you agree or disagree with the current administrations policy or procedure, we can at least agree that the President should speak in facts. Let's double check some of those from last nights speech.
