Just days prior to his 47th birthday, Chris Cagle has quit the business. The Deridder, Louisiana native announced on Sunday that is giving up his career in country music.

Here is what he posted on his Facebook page.

Wondering if this is indeed true, his fans hit up the comments section to get the skinny. It seems legit.

Chris then went on Twitter yesterday with more clarification. He said, "I just watched my tour bus roll out of the ranch. I hope the guys on it will forever know what they've meant to my life."

If this is indeed true and he doesn't pull a Brett Favre, Chris will leave a legacy of hits and a loyal legion of fans. I remember the last time I saw him was on a rainy Saturday night a couple of years ago at the Delcambre Shrimp Festival. He was good as ever.

Chris' biggest hit was "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out", his lone #1 song back in 2001.

His other top 10 hits included "What Kinda Gone", "What a Beautiful Day" and "Chicks Dig It".
