On Tuesday (June 12), Chris Young turns 27-years-old. “I’m getting old, man!” the singer said, laughing when Taste of Country asked him of his birthday plans. “That’s old! I’m almost 30! I’m just really going to take the day off.”

But taking the day off isn’t the only way Young will treat himself. As it turns out, he made a special purchase recently which will arrive just in time for his big day. “I bought a desk for my house that’s getting moved in the day before, so that’s kind of a birthday present to myself,” he revealed. “Then I’m just going to hang with the family and hang with the friends.”

Having some downtime from touring is something that is few and far between these days for Young, as he is in the midst of Miranda Lambert‘s busy On Fire Tour, also featuring Jerrod Niemann.

“Everybody asks what it’s like to be out with her,” Young says of opening shows for the superstar. “It’s honestly been so easy and so cool. She’s just the biggest sweetheart of a person ever. She goes out of her way to make sure all of her opening acts are taken care of. We’ve probably done at least two different encore songs together where she’s gone, ‘Hey, let’s work this up for an encore!’”

He adds, “She just really makes a point for it to be kind of a family environment and experience as far as everybody feels they are in one group instead of three separate groups of musicians out there. It’s a lot of fun. She obviously pulls in a lot of people, so it’s nice to be able to be out in front of crowds like that.”
